Joy Mary Pollard

Y. and of Fort Myers, Fla., passed away on Thursday, July 19, 2018 at Millard Fillmore Suburban Hospital in Buffalo, N.Y. with her loving family at her side.She was born on April 4, 1926 in Nelson, England, the daughter of the late Thomas and Mary (Lord) Matthews. Joy married US Army Captain Henry G. Pollard on May 4, 1946. They were married for 61 years until the death of her husband. She came to this country as an English war bride and resided in West Winfield, N.Y. due to a post-war housing shortage. She lived in the Pollard family home with her new husband and his family. Henry and Joy moved to Medina with their three children in 1956 when her husband took a job with Arthur W. Grant Insurance Agency, which later became the longtime established business in Medina known as Grant Pollard Insurance Agency. Joy was a member of several social organizations and an active and dedicated member of the First Presbyterian Church of Medina, where she served as a Deacon and an Elder. She spent the winters in her Florida home in Fort Myers at McGregor Woods, which was a truly special place to her.She is survived by her children Paul (Norma Jean) Pollard of Lyndonville, N.Y., Sarah (Craig) Lacy, Timothy (Karen) Pollard, and Amanda Pollard, all of Medina, N.Y.She is also survived by 14 grandchildren, Alison (Phil) Boseck, Libby (Joel) Woodroe, Megan (Scott) Szalay, Hannah Pollard, Benjamin (Rebecca) Lacy, Joshua (Jacquelyn) Lacy, Nicholas Lacy, Noah (Jessie) Lacy, Katherine (Steve) Szczubelek, Maggie (Matthew) Schreck, Patrick Pollard, Emily (Ronald) Litz, Alexandra Joy (Matthew) Williams, Mallory (Chris) Marshall and 24 great-grandchildren and her faithful companion, Lulu.Friends and relatives may be received at calling hours on Friday, July 27, 2018 from 2 - 4 p.m. and 7 - 9 p.m. at the Bogan and Tuttle Funeral Home, 226 Pearl St., Medina, N.Y. 14103. Mary Evelyn Malone

She was born January 16, 1925, in Carlyle, IL, the daughter of Frank and Olinda (Siegmann) Witt.  Mary married Edward Eugene Malone on December 31, 1945 in Winchester, IL.  He preceded her in death. Mary was employed as a Dietitian at the Alton Mental Health Hospital for many years, retiring in 1986.  She loved crafts, sewing, quilting, flowers, and going camping.  She is survived 3 children, Rick Malone (Cindy) of Dorsey, Linda Lippoldt (Dr. Art Lippoldt) of Edwardsville, IL, and Ruth;a son-in-law, Larry Pollard;  grandchildren, Larry Pollard, Yvonne Allsbury, Denny Pollard, Laurie Moore, Sheri Nankes, Patrick Maxin, Matthew Malone, Morgan Malone, and Melony Biver; great grandchildren, Drew Carter, Paige Carter, Tyler Farmer, Dylan Brown, Christian Pollard, Ethan Pollard, Allison Biver, Savannah Stewart, and Kyle Nankes; and 3 great-great grandchildren.  Along with her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Connie Pollard; 2 brothers, Syl Witt and Norman Witt; and 3 sisters, Alberta Gill, Delores Lawrence, and Rose Habbe.  Visitation will be Thursday, August 2, 2018 from 4:00- 8:00 pm at the Elias Kallal and Schaaf Funeral Home in Bethalto, IL.  Funeral Services will be Friday, August 3, 2018 at 10:00 am at the funeral home, burial will follow at Rose Lawn Memory Gardens. Memorials may be made to Make a Wish Foundation.  An online condolence and guest book may be found at www.eliaskallalandschaaf.com . ...
